Anniina Kananen (of Finland)
I am Anniina and come from Oulu, Finland. At the moment I am attending UWC Red Cross Nordic in Flekke. I was the Chairperson for DROP in the beginning of 2013. At the campus we have many different charity organizations, but DROP was the one that spoke the most for me. During the summer (2012) I spent three weeks in Nepal and visited many schools that lacked proper tools for education. This opened my eyes a lot. As soon as I heard that DROP does work with providing education for children and youth in unprivileged conditions, I knew that this is the right organization for me. From the beginning I have been a member of our souvenir committee, but I have worked with all the committees and decided to run for chairperson, since I believe that DROP is something valuable and that I can contribute in many different ways as the Chair.
Ntokozo Yende (of South Africa)
My name is Ntokozo Yende, commonly known as Tots. I was born and bred in Pretoria, South Africa but I have lived in Cape Town for the past 4 years. Previously, I attended St Cyprians’ School where community service and partnerships was part of the curriculum. Having been part of intensive yet rewarding projects in the past, undoubtedly, community service has become a part of me. When beginning my first year at RCNUWC in August 2012, I felt as though I had neglected my community back home and I owed it to myself to continue doing what I loved, helping people. I also soon realised that a change is location did not mean that I no longer had a community, it just meant that I had a new community. That was the exactly when I had the ‘UH-HUH’ moment and made a decision to join DROP, a group that goes the extra-mile to support and develop a wide variety of communities around the world. Since then, I was elected as the Vice-chairperson and Accountant for DROP and soon promoted the Chairperson and treasurer for the year 2013/2014. The great team that forms as part of DROP at RCN makes being the leader an effort-less task. Being a member of DROP, is not only a chance for me to do what I love, it is also a chance for me to learn new skills and work with a team of remarkable individuals.
Timothy Chong (of Hong Kong)
I'm Tim from Hong Kong and I'm elected to lead the Products Development Team. I have a passion in design and engineering. I dream of becoming the next business startup in researching new technologies to solve our world's energy shortage problems. My goal in the future is to use the revenues from a line of luxury designer products to fund research projects in developing countries. In DROP, I spend my time working with others in doing marketing and designing. I believe that good design and marketing is crucial to success. I'm really grateful for the chance and I hope to make a difference to the world.
